LinkedIn Job Scanner — Privacy policy

LinkedIn Job Scanner compares the text of a PDF resume you choose with job postings displayed on LinkedIn. Processing takes place on your device. The extension does not operate a server, use analytics, display advertising, or send your resume or job data to its developer or an AI service.

Information the extension handles

• Resume: the filename and text extracted from a PDF you select. This text may contain your name, contact details, education, and employment history. The original PDF is read to extract text; the extension does not retain the PDF file.
• Job postings: the job title, company, description, and URL read from open LinkedIn jobs pages. The side panel displays analysis for the active job tab.

Use and storage

Resume text is used to calculate keyword overlap with a job description. Job text is used to detect mentions of clearance, sponsorship, experience, and preferred qualifications and to locate matching text on the page.

The filename and extracted resume text are stored in this browser profile using Chrome's local extension storage. They are not synchronized through Chrome Sync. Job data and analysis are held in memory rather than saved as browsing history.

Sharing and limited use

The extension does not transmit, sell, or share resume text or job data with its developer or third parties. Data is used only for the resume-to-job comparison and evidence-location features. It is not used for advertising, credit decisions, or unrelated purposes.

If you click Copy for missing skills, those skill names are written to your device's clipboard at your request.

Retention and deletion

Saved resume text remains until you click Change in the side panel or uninstall the extension. Change deletes the stored filename and text before allowing another upload. Clearing the extension's local data also removes the resume. Closing the relevant pages and panel releases their in-memory job data.

Permissions and other services

Local storage keeps your selected resume text. The sidePanel permission provides the analysis panel. LinkedIn host access identifies matching tabs; the content script runs on LinkedIn jobs pages to read job descriptions and highlight evidence. The extension does not request access to all websites or the browser's history database.

LinkedIn and Google Chrome operate independently and have their own privacy policies. This extension is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by LinkedIn.
